The Light Vehicle Mechanic at our Pennsuco Aggregates from Titan Florida LLC is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all light and heavy-duty vehicles utilized within the mining operation. This includes trucks, vans, pickups, and other light-duty vehicles essential for the smooth functioning of daily operations. The incumbent will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure all vehicles are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrications, and tire rotations on trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems, and conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension systems, and other vehicle components as needed.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, electrical problems, and hydraulic malfunctions using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and proactively address them to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.
  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to prolong the lifespan of trucks and minimize downtime.
  • Test-drive trucks to verify repairs and ensure proper functioning of all systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and vehicle history, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and supplies and submit requisitions for replenishment as necessary to ensure availability for timely repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to LOTOTO procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and procurement, to coordinate vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, and equipment availability to support operational objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in vehicle maintenance and repair to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in automotive mechanics is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a heavy equipment or industrial setting, with specific experience working on light vehicles.
  • Proficient knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools, such as scan tools and diagnostic software, to troubleshoot vehicle problems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in recording maintenance and repair activities.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed to support operational requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
