MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II

                                                           

NORMAL HOURS:  Hours vary- Early am, late pm.  (Weekends required)

 DUTIES: Mobile Truck/Plant Mechanic to work at our ready-mix shop in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform repairs and maintenance of the mobile and plant equipment.  Assist the senior mechanics in performing maintenance and repair of various types of mobile equipment in company shop or on public roadways as necessary and maximize equipment availability using efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs. Must be willing to work on ready-mix plants as needed. Must be English proficient, both oral and written.

 

Required Skills

  • Dedication to maintain the highest standard of safety in all aspects of the job.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repair of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics and basic electrical and welding.
  • Previous experience doing preventative maintenance inspections and procedures. 
  • Willing to train and become certified in Brakes, AC Systems, Hydraulics, Welding, & Pneumatics
  • Strong mechanical skills and the ability to problem solve.
  • Ready-mix industry knowledge or related industry a plus.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
  • Must be able to perform job duties, on catwalks, at heights of 60-80 feet.
  • Must possess required minimal tool list provided by the Union contract.
  • Must be able to work over-time as needed.
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Electrical experience to 480 VAC and control systems a plus.

 

Education Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 2-5 years’ experience as a mechanic working on commercial trucks and/or manufacturing equipment (i.e., conveyor systems, air compressors, general plumbing).
  • History of working safely.
