Separation Technician

Job Description

Summary:

Titan Florida, LLC has an opening for a Separation Technician at its Estero, FL aggregates plant. This position is wage non-exempt and will report to the Production Supervisor.

The Corkscrew Mine requires foreign (non-rock) debris to be picked from the conveyor belt to avoid the contamination of our finished goods.  The raw material has contaminants such as wood, piping, plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. that make their way through the plant and onto the conveyor belt where the technician will be stationed. The job requires that the Separation Technician be vigilant, focused, and ready to pick foreign material as it passes the Picking Station.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Expected to comply with all safety procedures and always wear the required PPE.
  • Inspect work areas with regard to safety and housekeeping and report any deficiencies to supervisor immediately.
  • Safely pick the debris from the conveyor belt, while maintaining sure footing, with weight fully rested on the steel platform that is provided.
  • Monitor the conveyor belt to spot debris as it falls onto the belt.  Spotting the debris with anticipation will allow for safe planning on how to best pick it. The Separation Technician is expected to maintain stability while working adjacent to a moving belt.
  • Focus should remain on getting all the large pieces of debris. If a piece of debris is too small to pick, the Separation Technician must not dive onto the belt to attempt to retrieve it. The Separation Technician is expected to keep safety at the forefront of their mind, avoiding all possible injuries.
  • If a large piece of debris that can plug the Tertiary Crusher comes onto the belt, but is too large to carry, or is spotted while the Separation Technician is taking a break from the Picking Station, they are expected to inform the Tower Operator via radio.
  • The Separation Technician is expected to throw all non-metallic materials they pick into a large dumpster.
  • Any metal removed from the magnet should be placed in the plastic trash can so it can later be taken to the scrap dumpster. Pieces of metal (Dragline GET for example) that are not magnetic enough to be picked by the magnets have potential to damage the internals of the Canica.
  • The Separation Technician is expected to take breaks and check in with the Tower Operator periodically, via radio. They are to provide feedback on what they’ve seen and how they are feeling.  If a break is needed, they must inform the Production Team Lead or the Plant Operator.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications:

  • Physically fit to handle lifting 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
  • Able to walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand for extended periods of time, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Safety minded
  • Possess a positive attitude.
